Sing 浪 🌊
I really don’t know where to start so I’ll just say if you want a wild ride of a night I’ll point you towards Sing-Lang 2019. First off, I didn’t even know the entire event would be in Chinese, so that was a mild source of confusion. No regrets though, as I saw the legendary Pornsak host live for the first time. In the midst of artists I did and didn’t recognize, I discovered my new fav Chinese song (給我一個 by Boon Hui Lu, by the way, a massive bop), I watched Nathan Hartono sing about washing clothes by the riverside, saw The Freshmen perform with Kit Chan and backed by a guy playing 4 instruments at once, and to top it all off TheLionCityBoy called me bro.
I don’t think I’ve been for any event or concert which hit me with that much nostalgia, from watching Gentle Bones singing a medley of his greatest songs and making me real emo to Kit Chan singing Home. It really was an experience. The moment where every artist of the night came on stage and sang Home with Kit Chan earned a ‘Wow’, and one I won’t forget anytime soon. National Day came early and I am nothing if not patriotic.I guess all-in-all the event was just heaps of fun and joy and I regret not getting higher than C6 for Chinese during O-Levels just because I wanna understand more of Pornsak’s jokes. Or maybe, next time, I should just study before a concert.
